2026 Abstract - COTTON REPLANT DECISION - HAIL, DEER AND WATER DAMAGE: Cotton replanting decisions are often complicated due to uncertainty in stand establishment, extra costs, maturity loss, and yield lag. Cotton stand loss in Mississippi can usually be attributed to weather events including excessive rainfall or hail damage. In many cases in the midsouth and southeast deer browsing can severely and repeatedly contribute to stand failures.
