2026 Abstract - SOYBEAN SEEDING RATES THAT PAY: HOW LOW CAN YOU GO?: With rising production costs, many soybean growers are looking for practical ways to reduce inputs without sacrificing yield. Recent university research across the Midsouth has evaluated soybean stand and yield response to reduced seeding rates to determine how low populations can go while maintaining yield potential. Early results show strong opportunities for cost savings by cutting seeding rates, with minimal impact on yield. These findings align with on-farm experiences in the Mississippi Delta, where lower seeding rates have delivered consistent performance and improved profitability.
