2026 Abstract - MANAGING INBRED VARIETIES IN FURROW-IRRIGATED RICE: While not typically recommended in furrow-irrigated rice (FIR), inbred varieties are sometimes preferred over hybrids and have the potential to be grown successfully. Altering seeding rate, seed treatment, fertility programs, and other agronomic practices can increase chances of success while minimizing the inherent risks. Data from research studies conducted with the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture will be discussed along with recommendations from both a university researcher and a farmer perspective.
