2025 Abstract - SOIL MOISTURE SENSORS - INSTALLATION IS KEY TO PROPER PERFORMANCE: The use of soil moisture sensors has been demonstrated to have the potential to save up to 40% of water used during irrigation. However, sensor data must be carefully considered for use in irrigation scheduling. Faulty or imprecise data will lead to poor irrigation decisions. There are many options to consider when selecting soil moisture sensors, but the proper installation is important regardless of the brand or type of soil moisture sensor. The importance of installation and tips for proper installation will be reviewed.
