2025 Abstract - RELATIVE MATURITY, SOWING DATE AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS ON CORN YIELDS IN THE US MID-SOUTH: Delayed sowing due to unfavorable weather conditions frequently challenges variety and hybrid relative maturity (RM) choices for maximizing corn production. Temperatures in the US Mid-south have increased by around 0.2 °C/decade over the last 4 decades and are expected to increase at higher rates in the future. High temperatures during critical periods (around silking) can compromise kernel number and final seed yields. Enhancing understanding of the interaction between RM and sowing dates will be key to identifying solutions that maximize profitability. Results from high-resolution field experiments combined with long-term data from variety trials will be presented.
