2026 Abstract - EVALUATION OF ALTERNATIVE PESTICIDE APPLICATION METHODS FOR CONTROL OF MAJOR INSECTS IN MID-SOUTH COTTON PRODUCTION: The Environmental Protection Agency’s release of the Insecticide Draft Strategy in 2024 has raised concerns of the future of pesticide applications in production agriculture. Researchers are looking for alternative application methods they could implement in the aid in the reduction of off-target movement. Researchers from the University of Missouri are evaluating insecticide efficacy utilizing an inverted drop nozzle system. During the 2025 growing season, studies were conducted in Portageville, MO and Jackson, TN to evaluate tarnished plant bug control using the inverted application system.
