2026 Abstract - SOYBEAN IRRIGATION TERMINATION STRATEGIES AND SENSOR-BASED TOOLS FOR IMPROVED WATER MANAGEMENT: Determining the optimal timing to terminate irrigation in soybeans is critical for conserving water while protecting yield. This presentation will share first-year results from a study evaluating irrigation termination at various soybean growth stages and the associated impacts on water use and yield. Following this, Trey Freeland with Goanna Ag will discuss how sensor technologies and data platforms, including those used in this study, provide producers with actionable information to support better irrigation decisions. The session will conclude with an overview of the Mississippi Master Irrigator program, which equips growers with the knowledge and tools to adopt improved irrigation practices.
