2026 Abstract - THE IMPACT OF DEER DEPREDATION ON SOUTHERN ROW CROPS WITH A FOCUS ON MANAGEMENT: Deer depredation has emerged as a persistent and costly threat to southern row crop production, with annual losses estimated in the millions across the region. This session will examine the growing impact of deer pressure on soybean yields and farm profitability. Attendees will explore deterrent strategies that can include the recently labeled M-pede® product from Gowan USA which has demonstrated promising results in reducing deer feeding and minimizing the need for costly replanting. Through expert insights and real-world case studies, this session will equip producers, consultants, and researchers with practical tools to manage wildlife pressure and protect crop investments.
