2023 Abstract - RICE AND YIELD RESPONSE TO VARIABLE RATE PRESCRIPTION IN CENTRAL ARKANSAS: Emerging sensing technologies provide potential solutions for nutrient management, optimizing grower's inputs, and maximizing profits. In this research, variable rate nitrogen prescriptions have been developed using Unmanned Aircraft System equipped with a multispectral sensor. The Altum sensor was deployed, where it captures five multispectral bands (Red, Green, Blue, Near-Infrared, Red-Edge), and a thermal band. Before prescriptions implementation, prescriptions were validated with tissue sampling and scouting. Yield response to variable nitrogen application will be assessed, and a detailed economic analysis will be presented. -------------- 2023 Abstract - ROUNDTABLE SESSION - USING SOIL MOISTURE SENSORS ACROSS THE ENTIRE FARMING ENTERPRISE: LESSONS LEARNED FROM THOSE WHO ARE DOING IT: Utilizing Soil Moisture Sensors across the entire farming enterprise is challenging and is potentially a capital-intensive process. Lessons learned from utilizing soil moisture monitoring, the successes and pitfalls will be shared in this farmer panel session.
