2027 Abstract - PLANTING DATE AND PLANT POPULATION: INFLUENCE ON COTTON GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT, AND YIELD: Due to agricultural input costs rising year after year and the development of new cotton varieties with greater yield potential and different growth characteristics, a seeding rate by planting date study was established in Starkville and Winona, Mississippi. The objective of this study is to see if growers can adjust seeding rates with an earlier planting date and how seeding rate affects yield and maturity when planted in a later than normal planting window. This study is set up as a 4 x4 factorial with four different seeding rates (25000, 35000, 45,000, and 55,000 seeds per acre) planted at four different planting dates (early, ideal, later ideal, and late).
